At Bull Creek Podiatry, our biomechanical assessments are a crucial part of personalised foot care. Through analysing the structure, alignment, and function of the hips, legs and feet, we identify subtle imbalances that may contribute to pain or injury.
An effective remedial and preventative treatment for these imbalances is the use of Orthotics to help support and train and sustain the foot in a naturally heathy position. This can help address some of the following issues.
- Flat feet or high arches: to provide necessary arch support and distribute pressure evenly.
- Heel pain: to alleviate strain on the plantar fascia and support the heel.

Orthotic solutions can range from personally fitted and custom modified “off the shelf” orthotics, to fully custom-made orthotics specifically modelled on your actual feet.
The process for fully custom orthotics requires an initial consultation and measurement, where the podiatrist will take an impression of the sole of your foot, using plaster cast. This is then sent away to be manufactured, and then a follow up consultation and fitting, approximately 2 weeks later.
While the initial investment in custom orthotics is more than the “off the shelf” solutions, they are designed to be far more durable and in the long term can provide a longer lasting and more stable and cost-effective solution.
